The war sailors' monument in Skolandsparken

Place: notodden · Approximate position

In Skolandsparken in Notodden, just north of the Home Front museum and out towards the road, stands a memorial to the war sailors. Throughout the war Norwegian seamen in the merchant fleet kept things going at the risk of their lives – they carried supplies and fuel the Allies were wholly dependent on, often through lethal waters. Many of them never came home. The monument here commemorates the seamen from the Notodden district who served at sea.

The monument stands in Skolandsparken just north of the Home Front museum, towards the road; the point is calculated about 20 metres north of the museum and is therefore approximate.
